AMIX Colloidal Batch Plant Maintenance

2022 - 2023

Remedial Construction Services (RECON) project to treat the ground at the future site of Venture Global's Plaquemines Liquid Natural Gas facility north of Port Sulphur, Louisiana, to make it suitable for construction. This project revolved around the operation of two colloidal mill-type concrete batch plants manufactured by Canadian company AMIX Systems that were each capable of producing $100,000.00 of concrete an hour.

Star was originally hired by RECON to assess and remediate the work of their original electrical contractor that had been subcontracted to the project. Star's scope of work on this project eventually grew to encompass the complete operational maintenance of RECON's two batch plants.

Specific tasks included:

• Troubleshooting and diagnostics

• Programming and repairing variable frequency drives (VFDs) and softstarters

• Diagnosing and repairing three-phase motors in the range of 10 HP up to 200 HP

• Programming and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLCs)

• Calibrating electronic scales

• Procurement, installation, and maintenance of mission-critical components such as bin indicators, contactors, softstarters, and motors

• Installation, operation, and management of large diesel generator sets

• Installation and maintenance of low voltage power and associated systems between 120 V and 600 V

• Grounding and lightning protection
